While looking for something in one of my desk drawers, I came upon these two small yellow sheets of paper with 7 thoughts written out, in my handwriting. I read through them and instantly knew that God wanted me to see this at this very moment. He is good about doing that. It took me a bit to figure out where I had written these from...they had come from this past summer's Beth Moore simulcast teaching that we had done at our church. They were a good reminder for me. Maybe for you too.
1. God is always at work around me.
2. God pursues a loving relationship with me.
3. God invites me to work with Him.
4. God speaks to me through the Holy Spirit, the Word, prayer, circumstances, and the church to show me His purpose.
5. There will always be a crisis of belief that requires faith and action.
6. Adjustments in my life will happen.
7. I will know God through experience as I obey Him.
In this life, if it is not one thing, it will be another. We are pilgrims in this world on a journey for God. Desert dwellers, river crossers, stone builders, promise land seekers who battle all the way there. He is our God. And I am trusting Him all the way.

I love the idea of knowing that we are part in the grand story of the ages, that God planned us and placed us and that no matter what is happening around us, it is His story. He is the author and finisher. In the grand scheme, He is at work and it cannot be denied. And so much of what happens is not actually really about us, persoanlly, at all. I wish I could remember that!
