This morning I had some fretting going on. Thoughts swirling in my head that just wanted to take root. It's like they were running around in my brain trying to find a seat. But God had different plans.
Because, He is watching me. He sees me and He cares enough to give me Words of hope that send those thoughts scramming for a way out.
And sometimes the way He shows me these Words of hope is almost comical.
Like today.
While sitting at my cute little round table, finishing up some time of prayer and reading with Joe, I glanced over in a casual stare at this...
...my current Bible that I read on top of an older Bible of mine. As I sat and stared unintentionally, I noticed one of the pages of my older Bible was frayed and sticking out a little. As I looked more intently, I focused in on the tiniest print of a Scripture. There on that littlest piece of a worn out page, was this Scripture reference: Psalm 118:6, 7.
I kept staring blankly when all of a sudden I felt compelled to read that Scripture. I am familiar to this feeling. I knew God was up to something. And sure enough He was. Because He is watching me always and He knew I needed this. Today.
"The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid.
What can man do to me?
The Lord is with me; he is my helper.
I will look in triumph on my enemies."
If you need God to speak to you concerning something in your life, watch for Him everywhere. You never know where He is going to show up. If I am in prayer, seeking Him first, looking to Him for all my answers and need, I will find Him. He has shown me answers through billboards (yes, I am not kidding), songs, words from friends, Oswald Chambers, Beth Moore and many other great teachers, and even in the small print of cross reference Scriptures that happen to be sticking out of the end of my Bible. And He is always speaking to me through His Word.
Sometimes I think we make hearing from God so hard. Sometimes we don't pay enough attention. And sometimes, we just don't want to hear.
But God is there and He longs to help you.
Because....He is watching. He sees you and already knows. And he is your helper.

I recently ran across a website where the woman almost exclusively gets her encouragements from through billboards. It was hard to believe until I read back a few pages on her site and she would tell testimony after testimony of something she was facing or a decision to be made and some random billboard: boom! Then confirmed by the Word. It was hilarious. Her very own "writing on the wall" in the godless king's palace.
A fav book is "Hippo in the Garden," by James Ryle on the sometimes humorous ways God communicates with us and just now re-reading Jack Deere's "Surprised by the Voice of God." Because I NEED to hear Him.
